41th ESDR meeting 09.07-10.2011, Barcelona
The European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR) is a non-profit organization founded in 1970 for the advancement of basic and clinical research in the field of dermatology. Today the Society has over 700 members, thus it is the largest organization that gathers scientists who are interested in the topic of experimental dermatology. The ESDR provides a good platform for exchanging information among scientists and clinicians from all over the world. The largest forum that is organized by the Society to aid these goals is the annual ESDR conference, which is a meeting where scientists can introduce the newest advances of their field. For the advancement of not only the Hungarian experimental dermatology research filed, but also for the everyday clinical work it is crucial that scientists and clinical dermatologists attend this conference. In 2011 the 41st annual ESDR meeting was held in Barcelona, Spain. Altogether eight researchers and clinicians of the Department of Dermatology and Allergology and the Dermatological Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences had the possibility to attend the meeting, where everybody had also a chance to introduce their newest results as poster presentations. During the conference outstanding lectures held by distinguished scientists introduced the state of the art results and advancements of the experimental dermatology field. This year several of them dealt with the topic of the immune function of epidermal keratinocytes, which was very inspiring for the members of the group too. Apart from the excellent scientific program, well-organized social events created a nice environment to get acquainted and share ideas with internationally recognized scientists from all over the world. |
